In which the Gjersviks both have a birthday I question the thrill of a lame race course, and discover I'm the fastest man in town!
3/10/13 - Had breakfast at Pinstripes in Edina to celebrate Matt & Susan Gjersvik's birthdays (his is today, hers is the 14th). Ran 4.5 outside...spring's almost here!
3/11/13 - Set out to run 10, just out of energy/drive to go any farther than 5.1 :(
3/12/13 - Ran 4.25 + lift
3/13/13 - Finally getting back to regular, ran 10.25 but it took 4 to actually feel like I want to run
3/14/13 - Ran 4 + lift
3/15/13 - Want to run more but want to conserve for tomorrow. Ran 3.30 after walking all over the skyway with Chris to pickup packets for the Get Lucky.
3/16/13 - Get Lucky half marathon!! 8am start time, SO COLD!! Seriously 8am hit and everyone was jumping around trying to stay warm and the announcer says "Ok, here we go." THEN sings the national anthem. Goddamnit, just say go! Started out strong, ran the first half (6.55) in 44,51 (6:51 min / mile), but it was definitely aggressive because the second half was brutal. Almost entirely uphill and into the wind. The cold cold wind. I don't think I've ever hated a run any more than this one. I finished at 1:31:54 (7:01 min/mile) which is a respectable time but I hated this course. It was boring and bland.
On the plus side, I'm the fastest man in town!
Post race, met up with Ben & Sarah (who ran the 7k), Kellie (who ran 12 for her SF marathon training), Engle, and Ally & Jay who mercifully got us a table at Coopers which then EXPLODED with racers!
