4/7/13 - Ran 1.5 to the Theodore Wirth playground, did some pullups, ran around the lake there 1.5, did some more pullups, ran 1.5 home. Total 4.5 Tired - YES!
Then met Julie, Chad, Courtney, Chris, Merrin, and John out for breakfast at Famous Daves. Best wings ever! Though it took them an hour to seat us!
4/8/13 - Left my wallet in the car! Searched the entire house for any kind of cash and only came up with $1.70. Guess I'm working from home today. Ran 9.0 outside. Still really sweaty after runs but getting better and my chest is hurting less.
4//9/13 - Did some lifting but tired on running. Made it 3.25, though it was a struggle.
4/10/13 - OMG first run since the accident that wasn't terrible! Ran 10.25 while watching Being Human (US version) and it went well and I feel not completely wiped out after!
4/11/13- Back to normal again! Ran 4.25 + lift!
4/12/13 - At the gym by 6:45 cause Jess has to work early, the weather sucks, and she's been giving me rides to work. Ran 10.5, feel great!
4/13/13 - Ran 4, then had a great breakfast at the Low Brow with Ally, Jay, Clint, and Amee! Great to be out with people and not recovering! Delicious pancakes! Was going to get the Elvis sandwich but they use Skippy PB so pass. Then we went to Houlihan's for dinner and Dave & Buster's after for Reed's 27th birthday! Who knew D&B was the place to be on a Sat night?
Happy Birthday Reed!

Week 33 - Running again
So I'm finally running again after 8 days off to recover from my bike crash and what a difference a week makes!
4/2/13 - So, no idea what's in store for me today as I just spent 8 days not running after 202 straight days of running. Figured I should start slow. Did some lifting and was able to run 3.25.
4/3/13 - Was able to run 8.25 (i.e. 1 hour) but it feels tough. Can't hardly focus on anything except running (i.e. unable to watch a show on my tablet)
4/4/13 - Lifted and able to run 4.25, feel a little better.
4/5/13 - Ran 8.5 but it's still more effort than it had been. Also I'm sweating like a demon post running which had gone away. It's like I was capable and hyper efficient and now I'm just capable.
4/6/13 - Ran outside, 6.65 and it's still difficult. My chest hurts more than normal and I'm still sweating like crazy but at least I'm out there.
Truncated week total: 30.90. Not too bad for a short week post recover.

Week 33 - CRASH!!!
3/24/13 - Went for a run outside, 4.25
3/25/13 - BIKE CRASH!! On my way in to work my chain slipped off right by the Walker, caught, and I got thrown. I landed on my face pretty bad. Luckily some construction workers saw me go down, called the ambulance, and even held my bike at their site until I could come back for it!
They took me to the HCMC ED (Emergency Department, not a room), and after the CT scan showed nothing abnormal I got stiches above my eye, under my eye, next to my eye, on my lip and inside my mouth. Also they reset my broken nose which hurt like hell even with being numbed. Doc did a great job on the stitches though.
Jess was a little freaked out to get a call from the hospital saying 'your husband's been in an accident', but was much relieved to find me messed up but ok. I am super lucky I didn't break my orbital bone, clavicle, teeth, or anything in my head!
Fun story of the day, my heart rate was 40 when they brought me in, which I assured them was normal. Then when I was waiting in a room for stitching and such they had to recalibrate the machine to not alarm as my resting rate was about 33 and if I dozed at all it'd dip to 29 and I'd have to move my legs to keep the alarm from going off. Doc said he'd never seen a normal heart rate that low :)
Sadly this broke my uninterrupted streak of running. I spent the rest of the week working from home and recovering. I was on a liquid diet for 5 of the days cause it hurt too much to open my mouth and that was terrible!
I was able to start running again 4/2/13. I'm continuing as if nothing happened and adding 8 days on at the end.

| Thank god I had these on!! |
Week 32
3/17/13 - Happy St. Patrick's Day! My god it's cold outside! 23, feels like 9, 15 mph wind. Damnit we were playing bags in the 70's last year! Ran 3 to get my bike and then biked 3 back home. Jess and I went to the James J Hill House, which was interesting. We were thinking of Downton Abby the whole time. I really want to go back for the Nooks & Crannies tour too. Corned beef and cabbage for dinner!
3/18/13 - Wanted to run more but still tired from the race. Ran 5.0
3/19/13 - Ran 4.25 + lift
3/20/13 - Feeling better, ran the full 10.25
3/21/13 - Ran 4.25 + lift
3/22/13 - Ran 10.25
3/23/13 - Jess and Amee are having brunch so I went to the gym. Ran 4.25 + lift

Week 31
In which the Gjersviks both have a birthday I question the thrill of a lame race course, and discover I'm the fastest man in town!
3/10/13 - Had breakfast at Pinstripes in Edina to celebrate Matt & Susan Gjersvik's birthdays (his is today, hers is the 14th). Ran 4.5 outside...spring's almost here!
3/11/13 - Set out to run 10, just out of energy/drive to go any farther than 5.1 :(
3/12/13 - Ran 4.25 + lift
3/13/13 - Finally getting back to regular, ran 10.25 but it took 4 to actually feel like I want to run
3/14/13 - Ran 4 + lift
3/15/13 - Want to run more but want to conserve for tomorrow. Ran 3.30 after walking all over the skyway with Chris to pickup packets for the Get Lucky.
3/16/13 - Get Lucky half marathon!! 8am start time, SO COLD!! Seriously 8am hit and everyone was jumping around trying to stay warm and the announcer says "Ok, here we go." THEN sings the national anthem. Goddamnit, just say go! Started out strong, ran the first half (6.55) in 44,51 (6:51 min / mile), but it was definitely aggressive because the second half was brutal. Almost entirely uphill and into the wind. The cold cold wind. I don't think I've ever hated a run any more than this one. I finished at 1:31:54 (7:01 min/mile) which is a respectable time but I hated this course. It was boring and bland.
On the plus side, I'm the fastest man in town!
Post race, met up with Ben & Sarah (who ran the 7k), Kellie (who ran 12 for her SF marathon training), Engle, and Ally & Jay who mercifully got us a table at Coopers which then EXPLODED with racers!

Week 30
In which we get slammed with more snow, I run a half marathon for the hell of it, break my week total record, and cross the 1,000 mile mark!!
3/3/13 - It's my birthday!! By sheer coincidence the 3.6 I ran today got me across the 1,000 mile mark!
Feeling a little rough from Pub & Putt yesterday but on the whole pretty good. Jess got me an awesome card (see the pic) a sweet Wustof knife, and Skyfall! Also got a bunch of cookbooks from Mom! Ran around West End before heading off to Legends to meet up with tons of friends (The Moes, The Matchenbachers, The Gjersviks, Ally, Jay, Amee, Clint, Karen, Derrick, Lindsey, and surprise guests Riz & Natalia New with ONE WEEK old baby Alyosha)!
3/4/13 - Holy crap snow!! Looks like we got about 4 inches with more predicted tonight. Ran 10.25
3/5/13 - Ok, even more snow! Got up to snow blow, at least 8 inches. Biking in was SLOW! Ran 4.2 (to make up for the .6 of Sunday) + lift
3/6/13 - Z's birthday! Since Gabe forgot Z's birthday last year he and Lana had the family send Gabe 'subtle' reminders. Jess had the brilliant idea to send Z's card to Gabe with the note "Hey Gabe, will you send this to Zach for us? p.s You can add your name if you need to." Hahahahaha Brilliant! Ran 10.25
3/7/13 - Ran 4.2 + lift, made artichoke crab dip pizza. Pretty good but the dip called for a T of mustard and I think it threw the whole thing off. Won't do that again.
3/8/13 - I almost did this Wed but didn't have the time. Ran 13.1 (that's a half marathon)! Near the end I was more bored than tired (though there was some of that). Total time: 95.20. Not bad but I'll need to pick it up if I'm going to qualify for Boston.
3/9/13 - Cheryl's in town this weekend so we (Jess, Cheryl, Brooke, Chloe, Devon, Tara, and I) went out to breakfast at the aways awesome Lowery , then I took the munchkins back to the house for some Xbox Kinect and workout routines (Devon's got a whole series of exercises he does every night apparently). Ran 4.4 at the Ridgedale Y once the Moms/Aunts/Grandma got back.
Week total: NEW RECORD 50 miles!!

Week 29
A week full of baby prep, the first outside runs in quite awhile, and soccer hooligans!
_________________________________________________________________________
_________________________________________________________________________
2/24/13 - Got up early and finished painting baby's room! Seriously, this is like a 9 hour project total. Jess made some awesome Rugelach from the dough I put together yesterday while I painted. She made banana peanut butter and cream cheese strawberry ruhbarb! So delicious! Great wife!
Wow it's warm out today (high 20's, no wind). Ran 5 in 36 min, I think, I wasn't really timing and I was guessing the distance but that seems about right.

2/25/13 - Still nice out so went for my first long run outside since (I think) San Diego. Great run, I can tell that I've gotten faster but I can also feel the hills! Definitely a little more sore afterwards than typical. Great to be outside though! 10.25 miles
2/26/13 - Ran 4 + lift
2/27/13 - I am definitely feeling tired today. It took me 4 miles just to feel like I wanted to run. On the plus side, I ran 4 miles not wanting to and then got into a groove. Ended up running 10.25
2/28/13 - Ran 4 + lift
2/28/13 - Ran 4 + lift
3/1/13 - End of week 1 for new hire Matt Culver, and it's also move day, meaning that everyone is out by noon. Matt was GOING to come running with me but went to Chipotle instead. Liz-AME! He missed out though, I was really feeling it today, ended up running 10.5 in 76 minutes!
3/2/13 - Pub & Putt! Got up early to run 1.0 since we're meeting our team (Amee, Clint, Derrick) at 9am.
Pub & Putt was a lot of fun!
We were soccer hooligans, Cody, Reed, Hilary, & Mackie were Canadian curlers, and AJ, Drew, Trevor, & Jake were Team 'Merica! with AJ as Cap'n 'Merica! The result was a lot of Brit/American fights where the Canadians tried to keep the peace "Ya, hey guys, can't we just have some Tim Horton's and get along eh?"
WEEK TOTAL: 44!
